Biography
Dr. McWhorter provides leadership for the development and implementation of training experiences for international government and private sector participants. He has 40 years of extensive experience in the coordination of activities of Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Extension and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences faculty in addressing social and agricultural program development requirements. He is responsible for project development and administration of custom-designed, short-term training programs and assists Texas A&M AgriLife International Development Project Managers with their training needs, ensuring programs comply with program objectives of sponsors (USAID, USDA/FAS, UN/FAO, World Bank and others) and trainers. He is experienced in maintaining liaison with domestic and international governmental agencies, private sector entities, foundations, other US Universities as well as commodity groups to facilitate and coordinate training opportunities. He commonly serves as the principal liaison in negotiating program activities and budgets annually exceeding US$1M. Dr. McWhorter has served as President of the Association for International Agriculture & Development (AIARD). Dr. McWhorter has been active in community organizations and has served as President of the Opera & Performing Arts Society (OPAS), Chair of the Adult Committee for Young Life and provides support to Save Our Streets Ministries (SOS), Camp Tejas (Christian Youth Sports Camp) and the Bridge Ministries Food Bank. Dr. McWhorter has served as a Bible teacher and Deacon in Baptist Churches for 50 years.
