  2. I have quickly navigated the website of the Norman Borlaug Institute and the mission statement fascinates me a great deal. I am a professor of agricultural economics and policy of University of Agriculture Makurdi, Nigeria, and presently visiting the USA and Canada on a short working leave involving the intellectual stocktaking of my works in relation to other places. I am the founder and president of Farm & Infrastructure Foundation (FIF) – an organisation for promoting policy best practices in agriculture and rural development. I met the late Norman Borlaug for the first and only time in Abuja Nigeria in 2006 at our invitation to the Africa Fertilizer Summit of Heads of State and Government, when he favoured me with a brief professional chat and a photograph with him that I am so proud to hang in my office till date.

Therefore I intend to visit the institute as part of my current exercise with a view to charting with the director or other staff working in relevant areas to our mission. Specifically the expected output includes the possibility of international collaboration in the area of food justice and related fields. FIF is a major driver of the food justice campaign transformed into GROW campaign under the auspices of OXFAM since 2010, and the leader of the Voices for Food Security. Moreover FIF currently implements the national campaign on right to food wherein some progress has been made including the sponsorship of two legislative Bills at the national assembly seeking the amendments of certain sections to that effect. My sense is that your institute would be interested and this area and we can possibly collaborate for greater impact and faster progress in this and other projects.

In this regard, I like to visit your institute within the next two weeks or so if the director would be kind tom arrange it at no cost to the institute.

    Thank you.
