Coordinator for Latin American Programs
Mrs. Johanna Roman has over twenty years experience in international programs, including project development and coordination, international sales and marketing, and international agribusiness management.
Johanna has a B.S. and a Masters degree in Horticulture from Texas A&M University. Her studies focused on crop production with an emphasis in agricultural development. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Education focusing on Leadership and Organizational Management. Johanna is currently Project Coordinator for Latin America at the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture at Texas A&M, working in agriculture development projects. She serves as Project Manager for the Food for Progress project in Guatemala (a USDA-funded project) and coordinates agricultural research, education and extension initiatives in other countries in Latin America. Her focus is coordinating programs aimed at improving the quality of life of rural farmers by providing greater opportunities for social, economic, and cultural growth.
Johanna served as Assistant Director for the Office of Latin American Programs at Texas A&M University, and Coordinator of Continuing Education Programs at the Texas A&M University Center in Mexico City. She coordinated student and faculty programs in Latin America and traveled extensively throughout that region, establishing effective working relationships with Texas A&M former students and coordinating programs with Aggie Clubs in Central America. Johanna has also worked in the private sector, serving as General Manager of a bovine genetics company with an extensive Latin American clientele. She also worked in international sales and marketing at a software company, working with many distributors around the world.
Johanna was born and raised in Guatemala City and comes from a family of coffee growers. She speaks English and Spanish fluently. She moved to Texas in 1985.
