Mr. King’s international career began at Georgetown and Texas A&M Universities where his academic programs included work in Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Yemen. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University with a concentration in International Economics. While pursuing his MBA at Texas A&M University he interned for Halliburton/KBR on the US Army’s LOGCAP III contract in Kuwait. He joined the Borlaug Institute in 2004 and presently serves as Associate Director and previously served as a business manager and as Chief of Staff. He provides overall control of Institute operations and coordination of program management.
Mr. King is responsible for the Borlaug Institute strategy and visioning which positions the Institute as an adviser to regional institutions, a partner to universities, and a promoter of strategic investment in agriculture – particularly in fragile states of Africa. With operations and partnerships throughout the world, the Borlaug Institute is uniquely positioned to interface with agricultural institutions, governments, and the private sector to promote broad based development. Mr. King is a scholar in the areas of stability operations and development exploring the necessary tools to create enabling environments for productive agriculture. Such tools involve targeted security arrangements, institutional strengthening, human capital development, and policies that are devoted to agricultural science.
